It is a detail drawn from the great tradition of riveted metalwork, the kind of construction visible on ships, boilers, and bridges. Here it appears at the foot of a bathtub, and it transforms the plinth from a base into a statement.
The entire piece is hammered copper — inside and out, body and plinth — in a single warm antique brown tone. There is no contrasting exterior, no black, no polished gold. Just copper in one continuous, unified surface, the hammering covering every inch and the natural oxidation building variation across it. Darker pools where the metal has settled, warmer amber tones where the light catches the raised faces of the hammer dimples. A small overflow port sits discreetly on the front rim — the only interruption in the broad, smooth expanse of the slipper ends.
