The form is drawn from the old washbasin tradition — an elongated oval that dips at the front and rises gently at the back, giving the rim a subtle sculptural movement that flat rims simply cannot match. The hammering is thorough and unhurried, covering every interior surface in thousands of individual strikes that catch and scatter light differently as the day moves. The exterior, by contrast, carries a rougher, more organic texture — the perfect ground for verdigris to take hold and build its color.
Copper has the unique advantage of oxidizing over time, which means its color continues to evolve with the life of the sink. The older it gets, the more attractive it looks. The verdigris you see on the exterior is not applied — it is earned, the result of copper reacting with its environment exactly as nature intended. Any marks that appear on the surface will gradually be absorbed into the patina, becoming part of the character rather than a blemish against it. Every hevna sink is solid, unlacquered metal — no coating, no sealer. The finish is the metal, so it lives and changes with use. We build for that.
Copper — starts bright and warm, then settles into rich russet and chocolate browns.
Brass — starts golden, then warms into deep amber and soft antique brown.
High-touch areas darken first — that's the patina starting where your hands are, not damage.
Want it bright? A wipe of polish brings the shine back in minutes.
Want it aged? Do nothing — it earns a deep, even tone on its own.

Should I choose copper or brass?
Both are solid metal with a living finish, so the choice is about tone and what the basin sits beside.
Copper runs warm and reddish, ages into deep browns, and naturally resists bacteria.
Brass runs golden and coordinates cleanly with brass faucets and fixtures. Neither is plated and neither is more durable than the other. Pick the warmth you want for the room. The exact finish and dimensions are listed in each product's specifications.
Which type do I need: vessel, drop-in, or undermount?
Vessel sits on top of the counter and needs a tall vessel faucet or a wall-mounted faucet to clear the rim.
Drop-in rests inside a cutout with the rim showing on the counter.
Undermount fixes beneath the counter for a clean, uninterrupted edge.
Each listing states its type, its exact dimensions, and the faucet style it pairs with, so check the specifications before you order.
Is the drain included?
This varies by model. Some basins ship with a matching metal drain, others are sold separately so you can match your faucet.
The product specifications state clearly what comes with each sink. If you are unsure, message us before ordering and we will confirm.
Is every basin really unique?
Yes. Each one is shaped and hammered by hand, so the texture and the way it catches light are one of a kind.
Dimensions are held to spec within a small tolerance of around a quarter inch. The small variations in surface and tone are the signature of handwork, not flaws. No two are exactly alike, and that is the point.
Will soap and toothpaste stain it?
They will not damage the metal. Soap residue and toothpaste are mildly abrasive, so they speed the patina where they sit. Rinse the basin after use and the tone stays even.
If a spot ever looks uneven, a metal polish brings it back, and the aging is always reversible. A coat of wax every few months keeps the patina slower and more uniform.
How do I care for it?
Warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive pads, bleach, and harsh acidic cleaners, which strip the finish unevenly.
To slow the aging, wax it occasionally. To embrace it, do nothing at all and let it deepen into its own character.
What if I'm not satisfied with my purchase?
Return it within 60 days of delivery, unused and in its original packaging, for a full refund.
