Two thin brass banding lines run around the base of the plinth, the only ornamental detail on an otherwise entirely restrained exterior. It is the kind of understatement that only works when the form is completely right — and here, it is.
The exterior is a deep espresso brown — smooth, matte, continuous — that serves as a foil for the interior in the most direct way possible. Look inside and the hammered brass surface opens up in warm, intense gold, worked across every curve of the basin by hand. The bright brass rim, sitting at the boundary between the two surfaces, frames the transition with a clean polished line.
