Only complaint was a bit of lack of communication waiting for shipping. Once received, very happy.
This is the most elaborate sink in the collection, and it does not apologise for it. The Foundry brings together everything that makes old copper work beautiful — a curved apron front, riveted copper straps, a fire patina, and two deep hand hammered bowls — in a single piece that looks as if it was pulled from a nineteenth-century brewhouse and set straight into your kitchen. It is a copper double farmhouse sink for people who want the sink to be the first thing anyone notices, and the thing they are still talking about on the way home.
The apron bows gently outward, and two copper straps follow that curve exactly — one beneath the rim, one along the base — each fixed with a steady line of round, domed rivets that stand proud of the surface and catch the light across the full arc. Across and between them, the copper carries a fire patina: deep black-brown clouds moving through burnt orange, raw copper, and faint flashes of gold, no two areas alike and no two sinks the same. Inside, two equal bowls sit side by side under a continuous hammered rim, separated by a wide hammered bridge, each with its own centered drain and copper basket strainer. The hammering covers every surface — rim, bridge, walls, and floors — so the texture carries from the fire-marked apron all the way down into the water.
Nothing is lacquered, so the Foundry will keep changing with your kitchen. The rivet heads and strap edges will polish to a brighter copper where hands brush past; the fire patina will soften and settle; the bowls will deepen with daily water. It already looks like an heirloom. Give it a few years and it will feel like one.
Every hevna sink is solid, unlacquered metal — no coating, no sealer. The finish is the metal, so it lives and changes with use. We build for that.

Both are solid metal with a living finish, so it comes down to tone and what the sink sits next to.
Copper runs warm and reddish, ages into deep browns, and the hammered texture hides water spots and small marks better than any other material.
Brass runs golden and pairs cleanly with brass faucets and hardware for a coordinated look. Neither is more durable than the other.
Pick the one that matches the warmth you want in the room. The exact finish and dimensions of each are in the product specifications.
Gauge is the thickness of the metal, and a lower number means thicker.
Thicker metal resists dents from heavy pots and cast iron. The exact gauge of each sink is listed in its specifications.
Our sinks are made heavy enough for daily kitchen use, and on the hammered models the texture also disguises the small marks that show up instantly on smooth stainless steel.
Yes. A brass polish, or lemon juice with baking soda, brings it back to bright gold in a few minutes.
The patina is always reversible. You choose: polish it monthly and keep the shine, or leave it alone and let it develop. Neither choice is wrong.
Yes. The drain opening follows the standard US 3.5 inch size, so standard disposals fit the same way they would on any kitchen sink.
Check the product specifications for the exact drain details on your model. If your disposal is an uncommon brand, a standard adapter handles it.
A solid copper or brass sink is heavier than stainless.
Most standard cabinets handle a drop-in or undermount with no changes. Apron-front and farmhouse installs carry more weight at the front, so have your installer confirm the cabinet support before fitting.
The weight of each model is listed in its specifications so you can plan ahead.
Acidic food left sitting will darken that spot faster than the rest of the sink. This is cosmetic, not damage.
It speeds the patina in one area, and the tone evens out with normal use or a quick wipe.
Rinse the basin after use and the finish stays uniform. If you prefer a slower, more even patina, an occasional coat of wax does it.
It will patina, and that is the point of a living finish.
Copper deepens into rich browns, brass into a warm antique gold. If you ever want the bright look back, a metal polish made for the material restores it in minutes.
The aging is always reversible. You decide whether to polish it or let it live.
This varies by model and is stated in the product specifications. Some are left raw to age naturally, others are waxed for a slower, more even patina. Check the listing for the exact finish of the sink you want.
Copper surfaces naturally resist bacteria, neutralizing it on contact over hours where stainless steel can hold it for days. It is one of the oldest reasons kitchens used copper. Brass is a copper alloy and shares the trait to a degree. Either way, normal cleaning keeps the basin sound.
Warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive pads, bleach, and harsh acidic cleaners, which strip the patina unevenly. To slow the aging, an occasional coat of wax. To embrace it, do nothing at all.
