Story
Story
The Veda starts the same way every Hevna copper piece does — with a flat sheet and a hammer. The bell form is shaped slowly, the craftsman working in circles from the crown downward, each strike deepening the curve and leaving its mark in the surface. The hammering is densest at the top, where the dome is tightest and the metal needs the most coaxing. By the time the shape is complete, the entire surface carries that characteristic texture — thousands of small facets, each one catching light at a slightly different angle.
Then the finish is applied in two stages, and this is what makes the Veda unlike anything that comes out of a factory. The crown is treated first with a heat and oxidation process that drives the copper through deep amber and into a rich warm brown — the color of old leather, of well-used things. Then, working downward, a verdigris patination is introduced: a chemical reaction that causes the copper to bloom into teal and green, the same process that turns old coins, old rooftops, old statues that particular shade of weathered blue-green. The two zones bleed into each other at the midpoint — brown above, green below — with no hard edge between them, just a slow transition that looks like something the weather did over many years.
The interior is left untreated: raw copper, bright and warm, throwing golden light downward into the room. The Veda is a pendant that carries the color of centuries on its outside and the warmth of a fire on its inside.
Finish & patina
Finish & patina
Every hevna pendant is solid, unlacquered metal — no coating, no sealer. The finish is the metal, so it lives and changes with use. Out of the water, that change is slow and gradual.
- Brass — starts golden and bright, then mellows into a warm, antique amber over months.
- Copper — settles from bright into rich russet and chocolate tones.
- It ages evenly — with no water and little handling, a pendant patinas slowly and uniformly, not in patches.
- Want it bright? An occasional wipe of polish keeps the shine for years.
- Want it aged? Leave it — it deepens on its own into a finish people pay extra to fake.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it hardwired, and can my electrician install it?
Is it hardwired, and can my electrician install it?
Yes. Each pendant hardwires to a standard ceiling junction box with the included canopy and uses a standard medium-base socket, so an electrician installs it like any quality hardwired fixture. We recommend a licensed electrician, which is standard practice for any hardwired light
What bulb does it take, and is it dimmable?
What bulb does it take, and is it dimmable?
It takes a standard medium-base bulb. Bulbs are sold separately so you can choose the style and color temperature you want. With a standard bulb and a compatible dimmer switch, the light dims smoothly from bright to soft. The exact bulb fitting and maximum wattage for your model are listed in its specifications.
Can I adjust the hanging height?
Can I adjust the hanging height?
Yes. The hanging hardware is adjustable so you can set the right drop for your ceiling and the space below. The type of rod, cord, or chain and its adjustable range are listed in the product specifications for each model.
Will the copper age indoors too?
Will the copper age indoors too?
Yes, slowly. Without the water and daily handling of a kitchen, copper softens over months into a richer, warmer tone rather than a deep patina. The warm glow it throws off, and the reflection inside the shade, is what makes light from solid copper feel different from a plated fixture. If you ever want the brighter look back, a copper polish restores it.
Is it solid copper, or plated like cheaper pendants?
Is it solid copper, or plated like cheaper pendants?
Solid copper. Cheap pendants are usually plated steel or zinc, where the thin coating eventually chips or clouds and cannot be brought back.
Solid copper has no coating to fail. It ages instead of degrading, and a polish always returns it.
Every pendant carries a free shipping, and free returns.
