Description
The Zeno begins with a shape that most metalworkers avoid — the onion dome. Where a hemisphere stops at the equator and a bell tapers steadily downward, the onion dome curves outward past the widest point and then draws back inward toward a soft rounded crown. Holding that double-curve in copper requires the craftsman to work in two directions at once, expanding the metal outward through the belly of the form while simultaneously tightening it back inward toward the top. It takes longer, and it demands more from the material. The result is a silhouette that feels ancient — Byzantine, Moorish, architectural in a way that purely geometric shapes are not.
The finish is unlike anything else in the Hevna range. After forming, the surface goes through a multi-stage patination process designed to produce a deep blue cellular texture — a reaction that causes the copper to oxidize not in the smooth sheets of a standard verdigris, but in individual raised cells, each one slightly different in size and tone, separated by a fine network of dark raw copper that shows through between them. The effect, up close, looks almost biological — fish scales, or the surface of an ancient glazed tile, or cracked earth seen from above. From a distance it reads simply as blue, with depth and movement that a flat painted surface never achieves.
The interior is left as raw copper, warm and glowing when the bulb fires. Blue outside. Gold inside. The Zeno is the most unexpected pendant in the Hevna range — and the one that stays in the room longest after you leave it.

The Story We Almost Didn’t Tell.
We almost let the work speak for itself.
But the hands, the heat, and the hard choices behind it? That’s a story worth telling.
